"BBQ-ing Britain"

Synopsis
“BBQ'ing Britain” is the title of a cooking program as part of a university degree piece. It will be, for now, one episode a part of a fictional show. Due to the time restraints of the project brief, we can only make one episode. Each episode will be longer than 15 minutes, the purpose of which is to show that BBQ-ing can be easy and quick, but still produce amazing results. The show will follow a chef travelling around Britain, making dishes that represent the area he is in. It will focus on local traditions and how to use them in a 21st century life.

The episode

The location is outside, with a view of the entire Swansea bay, where you can see from Port Talbot all the way to Mumbles Pier. We will have two workbenches for the chef to work on, which will be filled with all the necessary equipment. In addition you'll see fresh spice plants and Welsh daffodils as decorations. After seeing the chef prepare the meal, all the way through explaining what he's doing, we will finish off with a group of "friends" enjoying the meal together on the nicely set table outside just behind the chefs work area.
This will be shot in the final week of April and beginning of May (29/04/13 – 05/05/13), because it would need to be a warm. It will be a five hour shoot, which includes setting it all up, rehearsing and shooting. To ensure we get great shots, we’ve enlisted the help of several classmates that have great experience in camera operating. The piece will be shot on four high end Canon DSLRs, to ensure that not a single angle is left out.

Why funding is needed?

The money raised will cover the filming, the equipment needed and the groceries. The costs will include:
·         Paying the chef for participating
·         Buying local produce from local butchers
·         Buying two workbenches for the chef to work on
·         To produce DVDs and Blu-Ray of the finished piece
·         Travel expenses to and from location on shoot day
·         Buying local Welsh daffodils to decorate the location
·         To making sure that you that contribute get the finished piece and updates
·         About 15% will go to get the contribution perks out to you

If the target of £290 is exceeded, the surplus fund will be donated to Discovery Charity, a local charity based at Swansea University that help to improve the local community.
The budget can be downloaded from HERE.

Why fund this?

By helping us reach our target we will be able to make a 15 minute film, which help promote healthy cooking. Teaching simple and healthy cooking skills is really important in todays Britain where obesity is rising rapidly. This episode could also lead to a full series, that will benefit many people. The piece will also be submitted to various competitions and festivals, which will showcase great contributors like yourself.

What else can you do?

We truly appreciate any contribution you can make, big or small. One way of doing that is sharing this with friends and family on social networks.
Also if you have any equipment that you think we made use, like workbenches, nice summer style plates or even a pot of daffodils, that will be much appreciated.
Please don’t forget the perks connected with this campaign. If you look to the right of your screen, you can see a number of perks you can have as a contributor.
